It's also past half season--time to polish my boots!

I have a weakness for the same basic outfit--black or dark denim, a berry-colored top, a gray cardigan--so I continue to buy the same pieces again and again when I see them at a good price so that the colors stay bright, the top doesn't have pilling--the "uniform" is a little freshened up. Do you re-purchase the same basic items sometimes? Minor upgrades Here are the new items: And a reboot! It's also past half season--time to polish my boots!

Warm breezes, cool water, simplicity and peace--who doesn't love the ocean? Colors from the ocean seem be washing into stores for spring. The latest is light aqua or sea foam... In your closet... Chances are you already own some sea foam that you can pull out. Try pairing ocean colors with the color of sand. Here are some sea foam items I own...
A post about another color inspired by the sea... Dear Fashion Feline: I want to look more professional, maybe by just adding a suit jacket or blazer to my usual look, but I don't know how to wear them without looking dull and uptight. Any suggestions? --Roxy Dear Roxy, I totally know what you're talking about. A finely dressed feline wants the smart, put together look of a blazer without looking like a tom. Blazers are more popular than ever right now. Here are my tips to help you look feminine and fun, not stiff and masculine: 1. Dress it down. Pair the blazer with skinny jeans or pants or with a dress, not with suit pants. 2. Go unstructured. Choose soft fabrics, cropped styles, and soft shoulders. 3. Look for feminine details like piping, ruching, and belts. Or add your own belt. --FF >^.^<
I'm eager to get ready for spring with a chambray shirt to pair with printed skirts I already have. Love toning down dressy skirts with denim but staying appropriate for work. I'd rather not have pockets on the shirt. I'm thinking I may try a men's chambray shirt in S or XS to save money. The truth is I’ve never really managed to wear a wide waist belt. I believe they look best cinched over a somewhat shapeless dress or with a skirt.
Another example of a wide waist belt with a dress appears on p. 210 of the printed issue of this month's InStyle Magazine. Some women have been wearing them effectively for years with all kinds of outfits--professional to night out. I think it may be time to buy a wide waist belt because lovely leather ones are on sale right now at Anthropologie for $9.95 and up. I've been following them at Anthropologie, Free People, Garnet Hill for months, and I've never seen leather ones this low. Do I dare buy one? Will I manage to wear it? My dream would be that a belt like this makes a few items in my closet work that have never worked before.... or... ...knowing me: I may be forced to buy a dress or a skirt to go with my belt :-) What about you? Do you own a wide waist belt? What have you styled it with? Seeking an easy way to create a new look? Tie a knot in your old necklaces, ribbons, and leather cords.
More tips for revitalizing the items you already own hereRoaming through the boutiques on Larimer Square the other day, I came across the Michael Stars top below at Roxy.
I was already drawn to the colorblock sweater I'd found at Garnet Hill; here was the the same style--the colorblock forearms--playful and slightly unexpected. I wondered if I might be able to create the look myself layering color under a dark gray tee, but it's not quite the same, especially since the Michael Kors top is slightly sheer. Do you like the style? Have you seen it elsewhere? Fall always seems to be the shortest season (and the best!). Before you know it, you'll be trudging through the snow. As the temperatures cool and before things get slushy out there, try this fun look: sandals with tights.
Old Navy and H&M have the lowest prices. Have you found them anywhere else for less?
You can work from your couch today and enjoy discounts from stores that almost never give them. A couple exciting offers: *25% off sale at Anthropologie! *Free shipping on everything from Garnet Hill and 25% off their fall faves *Free shipping at J. Crew *20% off and free shipping & returns from Boden (though they don't celebrate our Labor Day in Britain :) What sales are you working today? The perfect transitional shoe! Suede for fall; sandal for spring, summer, and special occasions! In addition to the pop of color, blue may come in surprisingly handy--I can picture it with jeans, cream-colored pants, sand, gray, brown, skirts, dresses... |
